Retaining dams – Prepared for the dry season
Three dams - being built in rivers that dry out regularly - keep the water far beyond the time the rainy season has stopped. By binding the water in the sand the water is prevented from evaporating.

Women and children benefit
Women and children benefit most from this project. They are responsible to fetch water and often have to walk long distances to get it. The waterholes are in most cases highly contaminated – ideal hotbed for disease-causing agents. Easier access to clean water saves the children from time consuming and exhausting water carrying and makes it possible for them to go to school.
The 15,000 inhabitants of the border region to Kenya are very grateful.
