bangladesh2 slCreating a foundation for life

Unthinkable crowds in the most densely populated country in the world, seemingly apocalyptic traffic chaos in the cities, floods and other natural catastrophes that happen regularly make life in this poorest of countries a chronic stress situation.

Education for children

Bangladesh is one of the least developed countries in the world. Every third person lives in extreme poverty. A third of the population is under 14 years old and less than 60% can read. These are bad conditions for positive change.

AVC has been involved in Bangladesh since 2003 together with our partner organisation Ethnos Asia. We train teachers and run primary schools in the Chittagong-hills and in a Muslim slum in Dhaka.

Further training of Christian workers
The constitution of Bangladesh grants freedom of religion, but at the same time anchors Islam as state religion. Requests from Christian churches to support them in training their workers has led to our involvement in Bangladesh. The Church Empowerment Program (CEP) strengthens the Christian church work in their Muslim environment.
