Laos: Reaching the unreached

They live in the remote mountain regions of the country. As members of a tribe despised by society, they are disadvantaged and expelled by their compatriots.

In recent decades, Christians also suffered from state persecution. When we meet the pastors of the region, they tell us that all of them have been in prison for several months or even years because of their faith. During the imprisonment they did not know if they would ever leave the prison. And even after their release, they continue to work under difficult conditions.

But these difficult conditions cannot prevent the spread of the gospel. While only six tribesmen believed in Jesus in the 1990s, the number has now grown to about 10,000. This amazing growth in times of strong persecution is due to the determination with which Christians hold on to their faith. We support them where we can, especially through prayer, encouragement and training materials.
